Grass

As we go through life we are bombarded with images of "how it could be", of "paradise" they come to us through the media whether on a billboard, on TV or online.

I think that this constant bombardment can have the effect of us believing that "the grass is greener on the other side" that then causes us to start looking.

I think we need to stop looking and realize that the grass may be greener on the other side but that is because it is tended to. So may be what we need to do is tend our grass rather than looking and then our grass too will be green...

Use Them!

Do you hoard stuff? Have you seen those shows on TV where people just collect stuff for no apparent reason, we look at it and think they are insane.

In reality we may not be much different, as I made tea this morning I looked in the china cabinet and saw china that we don't use, it's there for display, not being used for its intended purpose.

Now we may not hoard physical things but I wonder how many of us hoard our gifts, talents and abilities not using them for there intended purpose?

As I sit thinking about it I have to ask my self am I holding back on my gifts am I hoarding talents that could be used for good and to help others?

It's definitely something to ponder because like the china in the cabinet it's no good having things which are good and useful if you don't use them...

Oh by the way, I went and grabbed the milk jug out of the cabinet and used it for my tea this morning, no use hoarding it!

Good Medicine

This week at work we launched a program that wants to connect to people using humour while also conveying an important message.

The response to the program has been overwhelming and very humbling it has gone over better than we could ever have imagined.

It made me start to think how much we all want to laugh, to have fun, we don't really want to sit around and be grouchy. I started to think about the best times in my life, the people I like to be around, there was always one common theme, laughter, I love to laugh, I love to have fun, nothing appeals more to me than a great belly laugh, you know the type that brings tears to your eyes. Ok may be a good piece of fruit cake would be right up there too!

So if I like to laugh and enjoy being around people that are fun and "light" then may be others do to, what do they think of me? Am I seen as grouchy?

I am challenged this week to make sure I am being positive, encouraging, uplifting, fun to be around. Because as we move on this journey called life I want to laugh and have fun, but as important I want others to have the same experience and I don't want to impede their journey.

Just another opportunity in this journey called life...
